GOOD FORTUNE

WEEKLY FORECASTS CULTURE GOSSIP !
I LOVE this podcast so much
08/08/2024
The perspective I need every week. When life feels romantic and hot, or completely devastating and in constant turmoil (as norm), I always look to listening to this weekly podcast. Truly it sets up my nervous system to be more in tune with the people around me and myself. Jaime approaches astrology the way I feel most nourished. So often now I think we hear from astrologers who use grabby zeitgeist words that can feel meaningless on a spiritual level. I deeply appreciate the space Jaime creates to let us feel our way through the week. She approaches astrology as a gentle guider, and in the insanity of our lives right now - I find it super grounding, supportive and optimistic to keep on going and loving! xx

Do you want to know what’s going on in the universe but don’t have time to study the intricacies of astrology? This is a great podcast to dip in and get answers for the week ahead.
As if we don’t live under the same stars
03/17/2024
As a sometimes-fan of astrology information, I was curious when a friend raved about ‘Good Fortune’. I tuned in for quite a few weeks, waiting to feel the ‘aha’ moment of connection or alignment, which never came. Not all messages are meant for everybody. But as the gen0cide in P@lestine waged on, I was waiting for some acknowledgement or mention, which never seemed to come. I heard vagaries, allusions to global strife, but like many modern wellness practitioners, nothing direct - as if we don’t live under the same stars. As other fave astrologers have been speaking about our place in the world, this podcast just fell short for me. Finally, on the 3/17 episode, there was a more direct mention - but it was in reference to the Twitter wars in which astrologers “past their Saturn Return” (over 30) are experiencing “personal attacks” in a conversation about how to appropriately politicize astrology. As always, it was unclear where the host stands in the conversation, and I finally felt the aha moment - that this just isn’t the right source of commentary for me. I was waiting to know that I liked it, instead of trusting that I didn’t. The low rating is not about the non-politicization of this particular astrology practice specifically, but the emphasis on whether or not different transits would make it a good night to party (not relevant to me, a Covid-cautious person), how some days “just aren’t right for working” (do other listeners not have jobs?), and other interpretations that didn’t align with with life under capitalism. If you want an escape, this may be a great option for you! & escapes are valid. If you want astrology from folks who talk about the world and how it feels to be in it, I follow Chani Nicholas and Jonathan L. Dent.
