Ologies is the hug you need when the rest of the world’s on fire
2天前
When everything feels like just too much and the world seems like it’s on fire. Ologies is the safe space you need it to be. Like a hug from a friend and the safe space of a treehouse. This podcast gives me the same satisfaction as sinking my teeth into a delicious novel. Thank you Alie for being there for us 🙏
The science of gender explained in true detail (it’s complicated!!!)
6月14日
Ever since coming out as trans I have been wondering what exactly made me the way I am. I mean, I accept myself and love myself - that’s not a problem. But I’ve just wanted to know on a, DNA/cellular level, just what *exactly* happened to make me this way??? And maybe I was looking for a little validation - some proof that could be presented to people who cannot fathom why anyone would “choose” to be trans - that it isn’t a choice, it isn’t something “wrong” with us, and that being EITHER cis or trans is as natural as being dark or light skinned, blonde or brown haired, have freckles or not, be tall or short, green eyes or blue, etc., etc., and that, furthermore, no one person is “completely” cis or trans, but rather that it is a very complicated set of variables all interplaying in a dense and intricate symphony of biochemistry, genetics, influences, and environment that makes up our entire identity, sexual, gender or otherwise. And this podcast *delivers* in its episode about neuroendocrinology. The two-parter about black holes is f-ing awesome too. If you like science and have lots of curiosities about science in general, this is a perfect podcast for you. I love the hostess, she’s funny and very engaging and relaxing to listen to, and is a gifted interviewer. ❤️❤️❤️

I had been dreading this appointment, but with Alie in my ear, I was able to stay calm and distracted while having some major dental work done. Thanks Alie! 🖤 🦷🧪
Wait, I Know That Voice…!

The aphant in me knew your voice. It was driving me bonkers. You’re our household best friend from Brainchild, always coming in with the cool science facts. Since then, I thought you were so cool on TV that I tuned into an episode of Ologies with Katie Mack and loved it. Then I found the Maritime Archaeology episode, and it completely blew me away. It touched on so many points I work with in maritime software. Thanks for such a wonderful show! I haven’t listened to Smologies yet, but I will with the kids.
